Are You A New Natural?

Going natural can be the hardest and most frustrating process that you have to go through that concerns your hair. Many things may run through your mind from which products to use, how to style your hair, and the whole transitioning process. After my hair nightmare, I decided to go chemical free, I couldn't imagine damaging my hair like that ever again.
With going natural you have to deal with new  hair growth and the constant shedding . To help decrease the problem of damaging my hair to get the new growth straight and having my hair shed, the solution for me was braids.
I recommend braids or some type of protective style for every transition er. Braids or any other protective style allows your hair to rest and decreases constant styling (flat iron, curling methods). Having braids can still be very stylish as well help promote growth with proper care.
Another way to help with the transitioning process is by simply cutting your hair. It is up to you if you want to do the big chop and start off fresh. I personally wouldn't do that because its not my style, but many have embraced that style. If you have been transitioning for a while and have a reasonable length that you like I suggest you cut. There's no need to keep the chemically treated hair there for no reason. Many may say they want to keep there hair  because of the length. If you were to do a protective style with your own hair you disguise the difference in the two types of hair. Doing curling methods has disguise my heat damage and has blended it in with my curl pattern.
I personally would tell people to say away from Bantu knots, if they are not done properly that will rip your hair out. Whenever taking done a curling method you MUST ALWAYS put some type of oil on it to decrease fizz and breakage. My main go to styles for already natural and transitioners are twist outs and braid out. If you would like for me to demonstrate the two please comment below and I will be happy to make a video.
